Helping your child at home
We never underestimate the importance and value of the work parents do at home to help their children learn; there is a great deal that parents can do.
The most important homework involves discovering an enjoyment of reading. Frequently reading with or to your child has more value and impact than you may realise, as do trips to the local library to choose books. Help with topic homework may involve, for example, a visit to the library, a museum, or finding information on the internet. Homework not only reinforces classroom learning, it also helps children to develop skills and attitudes they need for successful lifelong learning.
On the right of this page you will find links to some useful webpages and resources. If you would like help or information on a particular part of the school curriculum or a specific topic, let us know.
We are developing a series of information events to help you help your child on a range of topics. Look out for announcements on the home page.
What parents have said about our information events: "Very helpful...I would come again."
"Useful tips for home..."
"Really useful, can go home and practise with my child..."
